Funding Source

The 1986 Measure B authorized a 15-year, ½ cent sales tax which expired in March 2002, and has generated over $1 billion in transportation improvements in Alameda County see 1986 Expenditure Plan. ACTA staff has frequently taken a lead or partnership role in securing additional funding from other government sources - local, state and federal agencies - to augment the funds available from sales tax revenues. More than $400,000,000 has been brought into Alameda County through these efforts under the original 1986 Measure B, and $1.9 Billion is anticipated to be leveraged by the 2000 Measure B. Measure B Pie Chart The 2000 Measure B authorized a 20-year, ½ cent sales tax that expires in March 2022, and is anticipated to generate over $3 billion in transportation improvements in Alameda County by the time it is finished (see 2000 Expenditure Plan).

These two funding streams are managed separately and are audited independently.
