Route 84 - Livermore
Construction began in late 1998 to improve Isabel Avenue from I-580 to East Vallecitos Road. Co-sponsored by the City of Livermore and Caltrans, the project will provide improved access between I-580 and I-680 via Route 84, while significantly reducing traffic congestion in downtown Livermore. Once these improvements are completed, they will ultimately serve as State Route 84. Construction is anticipated to be complete by Summer 2001.
Project elements include:
- A new two-lane expressway from Concannon Boulevard to Jack London Boulevard
- Extensions of Isabel Avenue
- A grade separation at Stanley Boulevard
- Improved access at the I-580/Airway Boulevard interchange
The City of Livermore has creatively broken this project into separately funded packages. The Measure B contribution is $33 million.
"The Measure B project in Livermore will relocate Route 84 out of downtown and residential areas to Isabel Avenue. The project will provide a direct route for through-traffic between I-580 and State Route 84. This important project would not have been possible at this time without Measure B."
